(In progress)

Everybody wants to be happy. I certainly had been trying for 33+ years. Right around my 34th birthday I discovered the methods I was using were only awarding temporary boosts to my happiness levels, which weren’t creating sustainable long-term happiness. I was trying to FIND true happiness, but it doesn’t work that way. You have to create it internally, and it takes a lot of work!

You have to want to change before you can change. You have to put in the work before you can see any meaningful results. Going through the motions might put you on the right path, but you have to actually put one foot in front of the other before you’ll get to the top.

This page is where I will post everything that helped me, in one way or another, in my quest to create my own happiness and live a more fulfilling life.

Books:

The How Of Happiness – Reading the science behind happiness gave me hope that it’s achievable. This is the book that flipped the switch and motivated me to start rewiring my brain.

Just One Thing: Developing a Buddha Brain One Simple Practice at a Time – Practicing a few of these can boost your mood, build confidence, lower stress, be happier, and so much more. Can’t recommend this one enough.

Rich Habits: The Daily Success Habits Of Wealthy Individuals – Knowing what your goals are, and creating good habits can create big boosts in confidence.

Meditation:

Meditation has helped clear and strengthen my mind. I started going to a free group meditation class once a week and the results have been very positive. The class would be broken up into 3 segments where we’d meditate for ~20 minutes, do walking meditation for ~10 minutes, then a speaker would present a topic about bravery, fear, etc. As a group we’d discuss the topic and what it means to us. It was a great way to meet new people and to hear differing viewpoints.

It can be intimidating to meditate at first, but if you find the right class there will be someone there to guide you.
