I’m using Flurry in my apps to track events. Here’s a rundown of the iOS device usage statistics for one of my paid games for the last 6 months. From what I can find on Google the “Apple iOS4Device” is an iPhone 4.
It seems like the iPhone 3GS would have a bigger share seeing as how it’s basically a free phone now. BUT (as my friend Riley suggested) it’s possible most 3GS users are less likely to pay for content nowadays since they didn’t have money to pay for an iPhone 4 or 4S.
This data really shows how older devices like the original iphone and ipod touch have lost market share to their newer and faster brethren. This is great for devs since we know we don’t need to focus on optimizing our games for that hardware anymore.
